Award Winners and Runners-up of the Intec 2019 award

    Intec-Award for Junior Staff Development

    Award winner

    BAM GmbH
BAM – Das macht Sinn (That makes sense)

The Intec Junior Staff Development Award goes to the company BAM GmbH from Weiden. The jury was impressed by her original and target-group-oriented commitment to the next generation and the modern concept for comprehensive and proactive junior staff development. By revising the entire junior staff concept, which included hiring a technical training manager and increasing work in the social networks, the training quota in 2018 rose to 12% with 14 new trainees. In addition to the modern apprenticeship training workshop, the wide-ranging concept for junior staff development is impressive, with school partnerships, trade fair appearances, company tours, an open house day, the BAM TechDays, teacher training programmes and practical offerings for pupils and students.

The "BAMians" benefit from the company's promotional concept, which ranges from technical and personal development programmes to the necessary scope for innovation and a wide range of other measures that positively influence the work-life balance. These include flexible working hours and a company pension scheme, as well as free drinks, fresh fruit and ice cream in summer 2018. The trainee projects "Made-by-BAM-zubis", in which trainees are allowed to work on regular customer orders, is a very respectable feature.

    Award winner

    NILES-SIMMONS Industrieanlagen GmbH
Computer simulation to increase the effectiveness of a specific CNC machining technology

This award-winning company is an internationally active leader that knows how to reach out to young people through its own initiatives and externally offered career fairs or institutional partnerships across the entire range of junior staff development programmes.

The 32 trainees and dual students currently employed receive extensive support across the board. According to the principle of "Fördern und Fordern" (conveying and challenging), top performers are involved in concrete research projects - in this case the optimisation of polygon production on CNC machines using polygon cutting. They receive all kinds of support, including tool procurement, the utilization of machine capacities and measuring equipment, and access to the research network.

The individual promotion of young people and wide-ranging junior staff development within the company are two sides of the same coin - as are the recruitment of junior staff and customer orientation!

    3rd position

Helmut Diebold GmbH & Co. Goldring-Werkzeugfabrik
    Creative recruitment of junior staff

The company Helmut Diebold GmbH & Co. from Jungingen in Baden-Württemberg was awarded 3rd place for its outstanding commitment to recruiting and supporting young talent. The company with 120 employees excels in creative junior staff development. It currently employs 12 trainees (industrial mechanics) and 2 junior employees who are completing dual studies in mechanical engineering.

Early on, students from the region come into contact with modern CNC production at discovery days, company tours, trade fairs and internships. The special thing about this is that Diebold trainees take the initiative and inspire their young successors to produce their own game pieces, among other things. The company contributes to the costs of further training as well as barbecue parties and excursions. The trainees can supplement their apprenticeship funds by selling surplus goods on Ebay. Almost annually the IHK Reutlingen top prize goes to Diebold apprentices.

The strategy works: 70% of the employees were trained in the company. The employees have been with the company for an average of 25 years, which shows strong employee loyalty.
