Intec/Z connect 2021 – the Leipzig trade show duo Intec and Z that was held in a purely virtual format this year due to the ongoing pandemic – was met with great interest from the metalworking and supplying industry from 2 to 3 March. Attracting over 2,000 registered participants, the digital event was able to satisfy the industry's request for discussion and exchange in challenging times.
More than 2,000 registered participants used Intec/Z connect 2021 to learn about new developments in the metalworking and supplying industry and to expand their network. With an average time of over four hours spent per participant at the event, the digital platform clearly struck a chord within the industry.
Intec/Z connect 2021's opening event featured guests including Minister-President Michael Kretschmer, Saxony's Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Dulig and President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Prof Dr Reimund Neugebauer, making it a strong start.
"Intec/Z connect 2021 was a resounding success. Overwhelming interest from the industry as well as excellent attendance confirms that our two-day event was exactly the right event format for these times," says Markus Geisenberger, Chief Executive Officer of Leipziger Messe. "We have managed to establish a truly convincing virtual platform within a very short space of time. This demonstrates that we can do digital, and are well prepared for future requirements in the virtual sphere. Physical trade shows will however remain the focus of our activities. This was also reflected by our customers."
Participants Respond Positively to Intec/Z connect 2021
Participants to the virtual event also gave a positive verdict: 9 out of 10 respondents in an official survey praised the high quality of the specialist forums. In addition, 9 out of 10 respondents stated that they were happy with the virtual expo at Intec/Z connect 2021.
"Our industry trade shows Intec and Z are firmly anchored within the industry. This has recently been demonstrated once again: we owe the success of Intec/Z connect 2021 to our customers' willingness to embrace the digital format in light of the current situation," explains Project Director Kersten Bunke, who has been responsible for Z since 2000 and Intec since 2007, and will be retiring at the end of April this year. "I am proud of the trade show duo's positive performance and would like to thank partners, customers and companions for their trusting cooperation. I will continue to follow future developments at Intec and Z with great optimism."
Good Response to the Online Congress Programme
The online congress at Intec/Z connect 2021 won over participants with a top-class and thematically diverse programme. Renowned experts passed on their knowledge on the top issues facing the industry to the professional audience through around 60 lectures across the two days of the event.
The opening event was followed by very well-attended keynote speeches, in which participants heard vital insights into the major challenges facing the industry first-hand from industry insiders – covering the production of tomorrow and the transformation of the supplying industry. Presentations in the forums "Trends in Manufacturing Technology and the Supplying Industry" and "Additive + Hybrid - Manufacturing in Transition" were also well received.
Virtual Expo – Focal Point With Live Presentations by Over 100 Exhibitors
The virtual Expo was another major attraction, with participants being inspired by 53 exhibitors' latest developments. The exhibiting companies, which included internationally active manufacturers from the machine tool industry, suppliers of precision tools, specialists for automation solutions and suppliers for the industry, offered an interactive insight in real time in more than 100 exhibitor live presentations – and, for example, virtually opened their factory gates for the participants of the event.
Many exhibitors also took the opportunity to participate in the "Exhibitor Practice Forum": In approximately 20 presentations, companies were able to provide detailed information about their products and services.
Buzzing Interaction in the Digital Networking Platform
The digital networking platform was also very popular: 768 people – around a third of the participants registered for Intec/Z connect 2021 – made use of the format to make new business contacts. The networking platform, whereby professionals were randomly connected in conversations, reflected a desire within the industry to establish new connections.
Hidden Champions in the Spotlight – Promoting Cross-Border Exchange
The Industry's Hidden Champions Conference, organised by the Saxon State Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport, also took place as part of Intec/Z connect 2021 with 145 participants attending the conference. Among others, the International Cooperation Forum Russia/CIS, organised by the Saxony Economic Development Corporation (WFS), and the CONTACT: Business Meetings, organised by the Saxon network partners of the Enterprise Europe Network, brought international dialogue to the industry platform.
